It was mated to a Mercedes-sourced W5A580 5-speed automatic. Under the hood, was the 6.1-liter (370 cubic-inch) SRT HEMI V8 delivering 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. This particular vehicle is one of those cars that left the assembly line fully-loaded with all of the options checked. ![]() Production of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 began on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at the Brampton Assembly Plant just outside of Toronto. That price also included a pass to the SRT Track Experience. Ultimately, the car was set at $37,995 (excluding $675 for destination and $2,100 for a gas guzzler tax). The optional MyGIG multimedia infotainment system with navigation ($890), 245/45ZR20 front, 255/45ZR20 rear performance tires ($50), and a power sunroof ($950). Only three options were available at the time. Each car came with 20-inch x 9-inch aluminum SRT design wheels wrapped in 245/45ZR20 all-season rubber, AM/FM 6-disc CD/DVD/MP3/Sirius Satellite Radio head unit with a 13-speaker KICKER SRT audio system, and Dark Slate Grey colored leather bucket seats with HEMI Orange seatback accents. Available in three color choices (Bright Silver, Brilliant Black, and of course, HEMI Orange), the cars came as well-equipped SRT8 spec’d units. This was almost two months before the car would be officially unveiled at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. ![]() On Monday, December 3rd, 2007 Dodge began taking deposits for its third-generation Dodge Challenger. market (500 for the Canadian market) and would ultimately lead to a performance renaissance for the Dodge brand.
